Our Coaching team

  • I've never played, do I need to buy a racquet?
For hot shots group lessons the new racquet is included with the term fees. New players in other classes are welcome to borrow racquets, we will advise on what racquet might be suitable going forward.
  • Can parents watch the lessons?
Parents are welcome to watch the lessons from off the court. The decking area and the tables at the back of courts 3 and 4 are great areas to watch from.
  • I'm a beginner adult and I'm keen to give it a go... how can I get started?
We take a lot of adult private classes for those keen to get some exercise and learn something new and fun!.. no worries if you don't have a racquet we will provide one for you.
  • At what age can my child start having lessons?
Our Kinder tennis group classes are designed for 4yr olds. Private lessons are available at any age!
  • When will I be ready to play a real game of tennis?
Coaches will advise on when you are ready to start playing in matches. Generally speaking the serve is the best indicator. If you are not double faulting so much that you would lose with no one down the other end of the court, then you're ready!
  • What happens if rain is forecast, or if it rains during my lesson?
You will be notified by text if the lesson is cancelled due to rain. Our courts have amazing drainage and can be played on very shortly after any rain stops. We often get through when other courts are flooded. We will not coach in persistent rain, and lessons missed will be made up. We allow one spare week per term for lessons missed due to weather.
  • Can I purchase a racquet through Footwork?
Yes!.. racquets are available through us. We will happily supply something suitable for your level and budget that will be delivered to you at your lesson.
  • How many children are there in group classes?
Our coach to pupil ratio for group classes is 1 to 5 at a maximum. This is an important part of our lesson structure.
  • Will the lesson be on during extremely hot days?
As coaches we are monitoring the weather very closely!... A common sense approach will be taken, mindful of cool changes, cloud cover and availability of shade. Consideration to cancellations begins at around 35 degrees (apparent temp). We will use water wisely to provide relief for all on the hot days. Always feel free to discuss this with us.
  • What do I need to bring? What do I need to wear?
Lessons are physically active!... We suggest drink bottles, hats, sunscreen, clothes comfortable for running around in and shoes designed for sport. Tennis shoes are ideal but not compulsory! There are great drink taps accessable from all courts.
  • Are the groups organised by age or standard?
Our hot shots and junior squads are organised primarily by playing standard. We will also do our best to balance age and friend groups where its possible.
  • Do you have make up classes for lessons missed?
Make up classes are available for lessons missed due to weather. We do not offer make ups for casual absence. Always contact us if an extended period needs to be missed due to injury or sickness.
  • How do I enrol into coaching?
Just fill out the get in touch form or give us a call. We will then work out a time that suits for an introductory lesson or an assessment session with one of the coaches. We will then find a vacancy in a class that suits.
  • How are fees charged?
All group lessons are invoiced on a term basis at the beginning of the term. This placement is reserved for you on going in suitable classes. Private lessons can be paid on a term basis, or weekly if circumstances suit.
  • What happens during winter when it gets dark early?
All 6, synthetic grass courts are under lights!.. There is no additional charge for lessons under lights.
